The Bowen Technique is quite unlike any other therapy and I hope this goes some way to answering some of your questions.

The Bowen Technique is a remedial therapy which uses a series of small moves made by the fingers or thumbs on precise places over muscle and soft tissue allowing time, at regular intervals, for your body to respond to the new information. Bowen puts into motion the ability of your body to heal itself.

Here you will find a link to the Official BTPA video explaining the technique which may help your understanding of the therapy.

What does it treat?

Bowen is an holistic treatment and does not treat specific conditions. Instead it looks at you as a whole person to promote a healing process and homeostasis whereby you body heals its self and maintains a healthy stable balance.  Bowen has been reported to be useful for people with back neck and shoulder pains and other problems such as hay fever, IBS, asthma, ME, migraine and others. There are no situations where Bowen cannot be used safely.

How does it work?

There are many theories relating to why Bowen works and there is ongoing research by
European College of Bowen Studies (ECBS) to see how our brains react to neural stimuli.

What I do not do:-

I do not diagnose. Medical conditions should be assessed and diagnosed by a qualified medical practitioner. I do not advise on prescribed medication. The Bowen Technique is not a massage.
